2005THE MADNESS:

04-04-05 :: By a score of 75-70, North Carolina wins the National Championship, meaning that Justin C -- who correctly picked the winner and their opponent in the final game-- is the contest winner (for the second year in a row!). Thanks to everyone who entered!
UPDATE 04-03-05 :: ERROR!! I messed up when I stated who would win yesterday. Turns out that Shannon D only has 2 of the Final Four correctly picked. Which means that if Illinois wins tomorrow night, John P is the champ. If North Carolina pulls it out, Justin C wins.
04-02-05 :: Illinois defeats Louisville, and North Carolina finishes off Michigan St. The Illini and the Tar Heels will play for the title on Monday night. Here's how it breaks down: if Illinois wins on Monday, then Shannon D and John P tie, since they each had 3 of the Final Four correct. If North Carolina wins on Monday, then Justin C is the winner, since he correctly picked their championship game opponent.
03-27-05 :: North Carolina prevails against Wisconsin. Kentucky, however, loses in double overtime to Michigan State. Louisville will play Illinois in the first game next Saturday, followed by North Carolina and Michigan St.
03-26-05 :: Louisville (def. West Virginia) and Illinois (def. Arizona) both survive overtime games to move on to the Final Four, so our board does not change.
03-25-05 :: North Carolina (def. Villanova) and Kentucky (def. Utah) both advance, but Duke loses to Michigan St, causing 7 of the 10 contestants to lose one of their Final Four teams. Luke P is eliminated and Justin C is the only one with all 4 picks remaining.
03-24-05 :: Louisville and Illinois win, but Oklahoma St loses to Arizona. Only 3 contestants have all four of their picks remaining, but 6 still have their champion in the hunt!
03-20-05 :: Louisville, Duke, Oklahoma St, and North Carolina all advance. Florida, Georgia Tech, and Connecticut all lose. Even so, 6 out of 10 entries have all four teams left!
03-19-05 :: Kentucky and Illinois win, but Wake Forest falls to West Virginia.
03-18-05 :: North Carolina, Oklahoma St, Florida, Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Duke all won their first round games. Kansas was upset by Bucknell.
03-17-05 :: Kentucky, Wake Forest, and Illinois all won their first round games.
THE CONTEST:
Once the NCAA selection committee announces the 65 teams that will make up this year's field, take a look at the bracket and pick the four teams you believe will reach the Final Four!
Make sure that your entry follows this format: Number your picks from #1-#4. The team you assign the #1 spot should be the team that you think will win the national championship. The team you think will be their opponent in the final game should be your #2 team. The other two Final Four teams will be in the #3 and #4 spots.
Send in your entry no later than Noon on Thursday, March 17, 2005 to be eligible to win. All entries will be displayed on this page with a chart like the one below. In this example, John Doe thinks that USA State will win the title by defeating American U in the championship game. One of his picks for the Final Four, Patriot College, has already been eliminated from the tournament.
John Doe
USA State
American U
U of SA
The winner will be determined by the person who correctly guesses the NCAA champion. If more than one person selects the correct champ, the one with their correct opponent will win. If there is still a tie, the prize will go to the person with the most correct number of Final Four teams predicted. Any ties past that point will be determined by a random drawing of all tied entries.
