 76-WORD REVIEW

History often judges events and people quite differently than their contemporaries do. In this mammoth understaking, Halberstam thoroughly -- sometimes painstakingly -- provides the details of the Korean War and the events that led up to it. This book was nothing short of engrossing. Although there were a few lulls in the pacing, the information remained solid. Sadly, Halberstam died shortly after finishing this book, which serves as a fitting bookend to a long, plentiful career.
