 76-WORD REVIEW [SEP 11]

Combining recently-released and newly discovered sources with dozens of eyewitness interviews, Wilber recreates the 1981 assassination attempt on then President Ronald Reagan. Gunman John Hinckley fired six shots, one of which ricocheted off a car door and hit Reagan, doing severe but unapparent damage. The quick actions of the Secret Service and hospital staff undoubtedly saved Reagan’s life. Including first-hand accounts of the government, medical, and security workers, Wilber has crafted an engrossing, well-written historical narrative.
