Wisdom is much more than the possession of
knowledge or intelligence—it is living life skillfully. The wise
person makes the right choices, says the right words, spends
time and resources on the things that matter most. The wise
person is blessed—he enjoys God’s presence and approval. The
wise person also has the right perspective on life—he has a
bird’s-eye view of the maze. It is this heavenly perspective
that allows us to pick carefully our way around obstacles, avoid
pitfalls, identify and then reach the right goals. Wisdom is the
ability to see life as God sees it. [2]
Good character grows out of thousands of
minute-by-minute choices that favor wisdom over folly. [2]
When we are on the job, we are to give 100%
effort, not the minimum we can get away with. Clock-watchers,
lunch-stretchers, and time-wasters are a brother to him who
destroys. You might as well go to the copy room and start
tearing up equipment. You are already having a negative impact
on your company. [79]
The Lord may test us from time to time to see
where our hope lies. He may test us with abundance, to see if we
forget him; or he may test us with poverty, to see if we
continue to bless his name and seek his favor. We are to trust
the Giver, not the gift. [80]
It is moral character, not intellect,
charisma, or made-for-television good looks, that distinguishes
a good leader. [133]
